When camping, there is no heating, air conditioning or kitchen. You must plan out your trip completely and be prepared for anything. If you want to have a great experience, read on for tips and advice.

Those big, colorful plastic storage bins make excellent places to store and organize all of your camping gear. While at home, keep it in a closet or the garage and right before you leave for your camping trip, pop it in the trunk. It should keep everything air-tight, dry and easily accessible.

Try to get to the campsite well before nightfall. This allows you to get a feel for the lay of the land and gives you the opportunity to set up camp while you can still see what you are doing. In addition, it lets your children feel a little more comfortable with their surroundings because they will have time to explore.

If you have a toddler, pack a blanket. You can lay it out on the ground and use it as a makeshift play area. Bring cars, dolls, or whatever items your child is into. They can play without getting too dirty and you can instruct them that they need to keep their toys on the blanket for safekeeping. This will help to keep things from getting too spread out.

Camping provides the inevitable experience that you, your family and most of your possessions will probably get dirty. Setting the proper regulations in advance can help to combat this. Let loose and allow everyone to get messy while you enjoy the time spent in the woods. You can always clean up, and be "normal" when you return home.

Research any potential campground well. They all have different amenities. Some may have showers and bathrooms, while others may not. There are even a few campgrounds that are quite fancy, with onsite miniature golf games or water parks. You may not need or want all that, so figure it out ahead of time so that you are not disappointed when you get there.

Before you bring your dog along for a camping trip, get him used to the idea with a little practice run in the back yard. Pitch the tent in an already familiar area, and let him sleep or play in it for a while. Bringing a dog can really add to the fun of camping, so long as the animal has been adequately prepared for the event.

Get a sleeping bag that is warm enough. This is important. Even if you go camping in the summertime, nights can get very cold out in the wild. There are sleeping bags promising protection from varying cold temperatures; it is a good idea to opt for as low a temperature as you can find.

When collecting wood for a campfire, focus on three different sizes: the finger-size wood, that will catch fire right away, the arm-size wood that will keep it going, and the leg-size wood that will allow you to keep the fire going for a long time. Getting different sizes of wood helps you to start the fire and keep it going.

Exercise

Take a sleeping pad to help you get a good nights sleep and enjoy your camping trip more. An egg shell shaped foam pad or a rubber exercise mat type pad will provide protection from sticks, stones and uneven ground. This kind of padding can also be arranged on the floor of your tent to prevent rips and tears.

When you go camping, you do not have access to many modern comforts. Some people see the appeal in this, others may find it too difficult to live on the bare minimum. Camping should be full of fun and adventures. So, its important to put a little thought and preparation into your trip before you go. This article listed some of them, so make good use of them.
